A Letter from the President & First Lady

Today my daughter received a hand signed letter from President and Mrs. Bush welcoming her into the “wonderful American Story.”

A few years ago I received an e-mail on how to receive a letter from the president for a child’s birth, for 80th birthday (and above) as well as for weddings and wedding anniversaries 50 and over.

Last Year we had a new baby and I wanted to see if I could still receive a letter from the president. The only stipulation is that you request the letter after the child is born, but before the child’s first birthday and the child must be a US citizen.

I filled out a web form from the link at https://app1.whitehouse.gov/greetings/home to request the letter. The only other thing I needed to do was verify the information through an e-mail. The letter arrived after only 2 weeks.

If I didn’t receive the letter after 2 weeks I was going to try to write the White House at
The White House
Attn: Greetings Office
Washington, D.C. 20502-0039

I’m thinking that I will use the letters as a way to give different gifts for births and weddings (I just have to make sure I remember the names of both people getting married.

When looking online I also found the information to receive greetings from former presidents, but I wonder if you could also do this for governors, and congressman.

I’ll let you know the results
