I am blessed

Tonight I stood looking at our “new” house with my husband in between holding my baby daughter and my older daughter off to the side in the field picking dandelions. I was over whelmed with joy. I know I am blessed beyond what I could ever imagine.

A little over a year ago we had some friends pick up and move to Colorado for a “dream job.” I honestly thought they were crazy and that I would never do such a thing. 9 months later my husband applied for a job in the Nashville area over 700 miles away from our home and near no one we knew, but it was a “great opportunity” to try something new. He wasn’t in a dead end job, it’s just he wasn’t doing anything that seemed to have worth. We both agreed it was a great chance to learn something new and expand his skill set. It also meant leaving everything we knew and were familiar with behind except our immediate family.

We accepted the position and started packing the house up to sell. We also decided that I would stay back with the kids for 2 months to try to sell the house. At about the same time we found out I was pregnant, and would be home with 2 kids alone for 2 months in the middle of my first trimester (when I was at my sickest point for the first 2 pregnancies.) God spared me the troubles and this has been my best pregnancy with little morning sickness due to God providing me good health when I needed it and taking B complex to help defuse any other baby troubles.

Now 4 months later we are here, together, in a great house, in a great location, and we have a healthy baby boy on the way. Our old house sold and we had the offer before we moved (Did I mention that we lived in the Detroit area, which at the time was the worst area to sell houses in the country?) We left behind our family, friends, and the winter, but my husband did gain a great job that he knows in much better than he could ever imagine. He’s also doing something that he feels has a worth for not only him, but for others, and his company has been voted the best place to work in the Nashville area for the past 2 years. Beyond his betterment in career choices, I have enjoyed my new way of life. I have spent more time watching my girls and seeing what they are learning and more time in the car as we travel to the local hot spots like the Nashville Zoo and Adventure Science Center. I didn’t think I minded the cold dreary Michigan winters, but now the sun shines almost every day and we have only had 1 “day of snow” (2 inches which was melted by midday.)

Although all my days aren’t easy with my stubborn willed children who have a stubborn willed mother, over all, I am blessed with children who are amazing. I love to watch them learn and see how they learn. I love to watch my husband interact with our children. I love when daddy comes home and my girls drop every thing to run towards him (the baby looks like Frankenstein with her arms in the air). I love right where I am most days and now that we are in the middle of farm country, I am able to stop and smell the manure more often (because that is what makes flowers grow… or at least in the fields around our house.)
