Birthday Do Over
Today was my birthday, but I was going to ask for a Do Over on a different day.
I woke up as normal, had breakfast and then went to dress the girls. The youngest had about 10 spots on her back and arms. So we spent the day inside waiting to see if more spots showed up. I didn’t notice any more, but we will have to see if she was attacked by a swarm of mosquitoes or if it really is Chicken Pox.
I didn’t have any great plans for the day, but we were going to get out and do some much needed grocery shopping and go to Cold Stone Creamery for my FREE “Love It” cone. I didn’t get to get one last year because I was dairy free, but now that the baby is weaned, I was ready for some real ice cream.
The day went by uneventful until dinner time. I was tidying up the kitchen when the girls were too quiet. I walked into my bedroom to see them both laying in bed with the older one “reading” to her sister and the baby was complying (not bad for a 1 1/2 year old.) The older one had closed the curtains, tucked them both in. and went to their room for books. They continued to “read for about 20 minutes. After dinner we went outside for Popsicles and then I let them put on their swim suits to go into the bath to splash. While they splashed I was able to finally clean their room (while popping in every minute to make sure they were OK, but the giggles and splashing also let me know they were alive.) This was a wonderful time to finally feel like their room was clean. I would have had the older one help, but now that the baby isn’t in a crib, she tends to become a bit of a tornado at nap time.
My husband was away late so I had to put the girls down on my own and they went down with out too many difficulties and I didn’t get any “call backs” to the room to ward off any arguments. After the girls were tucked in for the night I printed off my coupon for Cold Stone Creamery and it is good for 7 days after my Birthday!!!!!!!
After a bit of surfing and reading some of my RSS feeds I went back into the room to see where the baby fell asleep as she tends to gravitate towards the floor. It was a precious moment to look in on them. The older sister had placed a blanked on the floor for the baby to sleep on and then tucked her in with her blanket and babies.
I am blessed with what I have been given.
This truly was a wonderful Birthday and it isn’t over yet.

It was only a Skitter bites and not Chicken Pox. We are now armed with sunscreen in one hand and insect replant the other when we go outside.

Not that it matters now, but when baby #3 comes, you’ll be glad to know that Cold Stone has sorbets that are dairy-free, but a very limited selection… Also, I love when big kids take care of their younger siblings; it is so sweet and special. I hope you’ll be sharing more stories on your site and details of what you are up to. To make stories easier, you could say older kid = A and younger kid = B… Just an idea.
