7 Months of Infant Potty Training

Monday, September 19th, 2005

Infant Potty Training is a method of start to take your child to eliminate on a toilet or other receptacle starting early in life. I started potty training my DD regularly at 2 ½ months. My reasoning for doing this was that it is done successfully in 80% of the world where they spend more time with their children; I wanted to wash less diapers, and I HATE changing soiled diapers.

At the beginning I only had about 60% success with keeping her diaper dry. This success rate has increased dramatically over the past few months as she seems to void less during the day and she is voiding on the potty more. She also seems to understand that she is going potty. Recently, she has shown signs that she knows to go potty when we say her potty signal. In the last week I have also stopped using a diaper while at home during the day, except for naps, with great success on the potty and my clean floors.

Alternative Milk Collection Bottles

Tuesday, June 21st, 2005

Whether or not you plan on using formula, you may want to ask for pre-mixed formula sample bottles when you’re at the hospital and pediatrician’s office.

The bottles can fit onto Medela or Ameda breast pumps, and the lids are wonderful because they are made from 1 piece.

Diaper Wipe Solution #2

Wednesday, June 15th, 2005

My daughter only uses wipes occasionally so I modified several recipes to come up with my own recipe for baby wipes.

You can store the solution in a 4 oz. spray bottle and spray it onto the wipe at the time of the diaper changing or you can store the wipes and the solution in the same tight fitting, leak proof container.

Diaper Wipe Solution #1

Tuesday, June 14th, 2005

This is the most basic of recipes for diaper wipes. My daughter only uses wipes occasionally, so I usually use a spray bottle with water & Tea Tree Oil to spray on wipe clothes when needed.

You can store the solution in a 4 oz. spray bottle and spray it onto the wipe at the time of the diaper changing or you can store the wipes and the solution in the same tight fitting, leak proof container.

Summary on Cloth Diaper Purchase & Usage:

Monday, April 11th, 2005

Using cloth diapers on your baby will cost about 1/3 to 1/4 of the price of disposables.
This amount will become even more cost effective if you use cloth on more than one child, as you only need to purchase cloth supplies once.

Cloth Buying Overview

I ordered Chinese pre-fold cloth diapers & ProRaps Classics for my baby. I chose to use pre-fold diapers because they cost the least AND they had the best reviews. I choose ProRaps because they were rated highly & I purchased 2nds at ½ the regular price. The reviews that mentioned 2nds for ProRaps said [...]

Purchasing Cloth Diapers & Covers

Saturday, April 9th, 2005

I purchased my pre-fold diapers from http://www.NaturalBabies.com and the wraps directly from ProServices (http://www.prodiaper.net) at (800) 397-8594.
Pre-fold diapers are usually a rectangle divided into 3 sections made from cotton. The outer sections usually have 2 or 4 layers and the inner section has 4, 6, or 8 layers. When you look at a [...]

Washing The Diapers

Friday, April 8th, 2005

I do not like the look of stains in the diapers, so for dirty diapers, I soak them overnight in Oxygen bleach and Bac-Out by Bi-o-Kleen or Oxygen bleach and a detergent with enzymes and water. I NEVER use chlorine bleach or Borax as both breaks down the cotton [...]
